Transatlantico Michelangelo by lupin3ITA Transatlantico Michelangelo by lupin3ITA

The Michelangelo was, along with her sister Raphael, the last of the transatlantic Italy Navigation. It was launched by the Ansaldo shipyards in Sestri Ponente 16 September 1962 and carried out its maiden voyage, departing from Genoa to New York, May 12, 1965. The godmother was the wife of Italian President Antonio Segni.
His life was very short but glorious. Founded as a transatlantic liner was used both on the Genoa - New York, but by the end of the sixties it was clear by now that the era of transatlantic travel by sea to the benefit of the plane was over.
He continued to travel for a few years thanks to grants from the full-bodied Italian government was then used for a while 'as a cruise ship, service for which it was conceived. In 1975 the Italian government could no longer afford the subsidies and the Company Italy was forced to suspend the service.
